To leave, or not to leave. That still is the question.
I know this blog post is late considering that we had our debate yesterday but anyway, don't blame me. I just really, really have this strong urge to blog about the 'debate' my section had yesterday. So anyway, here it goes.
I think it was during our A.P. time last November 8 when Miss Lopez announced the graded-'debate'-slash-recitation which was to come up on the 10th. And anyway, I was really psyched! I don't know, there's just something about debates that makes me psyched in a super-weird-way. I don't know if there's something wrong with me 'cause when I hear the word debate, I always feel like shrieking! Hahaha! :p
Ugh. Whatever. See? The word 'debate' has a really, really weird effect on me to the point that I can't even come up with a decent blog post. :p So anyway, the topic which was to be debated on was about nationalism. Or love for one's country. So the class got divided into two, then each group chose a representative for the draw lots. There were 2 scrolls, obviously and "to leave" & "not to leave" were written in each scroll and lucky for us, Marrielle got the "not to leave" scroll.
Well, at first it didn't quite suit me 'cause I wasn't sure if the "not to leave" thing had more positive outputs than the "to leave" thing but fortunately for us, we managed to see the silver lining of the gray cloud. (whatever, I used the metaphor wrongly. or is that even a metaphor? :D)
So anyway, the debate turned out to be utterly boring during the first few minutes, but there was this point when it got really heated up to the extent that Jil, Pauline & Trisha stood up & started to---shout at me & Marrielle. Haha! :D But anyway, the debate experience was really memorable.
Who knew I could defend my point 'till the end? Who knew I could come up with quite logical answers to Trisha's & Pauline's deep statements? Well, now we all know that I could actually make a good debater. Hahaha! :D
So anyway, the debate didn't quite end that good 'cause we had to cut it for the main reason that the time wouldn't accommodate us but still, it was a debate worth remembering. So as for the unfinished statements that we had, here's a question in return:
