Basketball & Life.

I have been browsing through old pictures, old blog posts & old friends' site just now and heck, I never realized how much I loved basketball (PBA actually) until now. Hahaha! And I never realized how PBA became a huge, huge part of the real thing---my life. I'm stunned, really. It's just really, really funny you know, how one thing becomes a big part of your life for a moment, and then before it dawns on you, your system has already ejected that certain thing you've become accustomed to. How great!

It was late 2005 when I started to become a huge fan of basketball. At first there was just the tv and then after quite sometime there's the real thing in Araneta. I started of as an ordinary fan but since my Mom knows the coaching staff & the players, I got to be a friend of theirs, too! As a fan, I was psyched each time I watch the game live but then when I got to know the players, their wives, their families, the coaching staff and all of them personally, parang the thrill vanished. It wasn't that fun anymore, it's just as if I'm going through a routine over and over again. I'm not the old fan anymore, I'm part of the family. I get to go to the post-game dinners, to the sensual birthday celebrations of the players and their family's, to the simple everyday gimmick. I even get to call them at home and even sa cellphone, I get to chat with them in Yahoo! Messenger, text them everytime I want. See how fun it was?

But now that I got over my basketball fling, I am laughing at the other fans who would die hard just to experience what I have experienced and get what I have gotten. And laughing even harder to the fans who think that having a picture taken with their idols & being able to talk to them means being attached to them personally. But then, I don't have the right to 'cause to think of it I was once mesmerized by the beauty of the PBA. The shiny lights & basketball floor, the photographers who just love taking pictures of the players' family & the players itself and the cameras that focuses mainly on you especially if you're beside Tita Jenny, Tita Karen, Ate Bing or Ate Lora. That's PBA for me then.

But now that I have gotten over my silly spell, PBA for me is just simply basketball. Nothing more aside from entertainment, the life of some fans and all the players and it's part of the Philippine history.

I hope I don't offend some fans. I just had to write this 'cause I think fans and my friends alike would get something from it. What that something is, is still the question.
